"I have a friend who is attempting to check for security updates to his vista desktop, and he receives the following error " Code 8007070437 Windowsupdate encountered an unknown error" aftertrying to check for updates. He said that he has had the workstation forabout 18 months, and that this has only recently started to occur.Has anyoneelse received a similar error, and if so, how may this be resolved?My friend isgoing to reload the operating system if unable to resolve.I have tried to google for the error but have not found anything, I am sorry to be unable to provide any specifics as to the hardware/software configuration of the workstation. Markel,I think the 8007070437 is not exact error code is that correct?Now if you want to troubleshoot an windows update problem.The first place you need to look is the c:\windows\windowsupdate.log. Is it possible for you to post the last 100 lines of this file here?Kind RegardsDFT
